One of the core beliefs of The OptiBreech Project is transparency and ensuring that we endeavour to share information with as many people as possible and in a way that everyone can understand. Below is our ‘dissemination strategy’ – our commitment to how we will share results and information from our study with healthcare professionals, research teams, and members of the public.
First, we will submit all results for publication in a peer-reviewed academic journal. Peer review is a process where research results are checked by other academics before being shared, to increase the quality and ensure the research has been conducted properly. Non-academics with an interest can also become involved in peer review.
When the results of our planned cluster trial, or any other paper, become available we will:
- Share with participants (only where consent has been given to retain personal information, such as an e-mail address)
- Share with local research teams (Principal Investigators, Breech Specialists/Leads, R&D teams, Clinical Research Network etc)
- Collaborate with the Sponsor’s press office to share trial results with local and national media outlets
- Share summaries and implication of findings with the RCOG (Rosemary Townsend), RCM (Kate Stringer), Health Education England and NICE
- Update the OptiBreech website by adding any research articles or conference talks to the publications page and publishing a plain English summary of findings to the OptiBreech blog
- Share latest results to social media outlets (Twitter, Facebook (OptiBreech Involvement Group, for participants), Instagram, ResearchGate)
- Update the OptiBreech database site (Welcome message and News page)
- Update Maternity Voices Partnership representatives local to recruited sites (those in attendance will be reimbursed with a Love2Shop voucher for participation and help with local dissemination, according to NIHR reimbursement guidelines)
- Update the OptiBreech Results Group who are comprised of parents with lived experience of breech pregnancies from minoritised backgrounds who help us share results with under-served communities (and are reimbursed for their participation)
